If you have spent anytime at an event in downtown there is a very high probability you have met or at least seen Marshall Samuela. Marshall, the YMCA Event Coordinator, is a born and raised Tacoman, who is well known for always being the well-dressed life of the party. When he is not socializing in his spare time, he volunteers for the W.W. Seymour Botanical Conservatory. We sat down with him to learn what his favorite happy hour spots are in Downtown Tacoma. In no particular order, Marshall recommends:
- Wooden City: Marshall, regularly getting a warm reception from the owner Abe Fox, loves the level of service he gets every time he visits. He also loves the exposed brick and how it complements the clean aesthetic. His drink of choice is the Draft Old Fashion. 714 Pacific Ave, Happy Hour 4pm-5:30pm daily
- Matador: Matador is a staple of Pacific Ave in downtown Tacoma. They have been here longer than most and paved the way for the downtown restaurant scene. Marshall’s love of the Matador is simple: $5 nachos and a Cadillac margarita. If you have been, you know what he is talking about. 721 Pacific Ave, Happy Hour 4pm-6pm and 10pm-1am daily.
- En Rama: Tacoman’s know that Chris Keil of En Rama is the forefather of craft cocktails in Tacoma. Like Wooden City, Marshall loves En Rama’s service as well as the warm atmosphere and beautiful aesthetic. His drink of choice is their uniquely made Daquiri. 1102 A Street, Happy Hour 4pm-6pm Tuesday-Saturday.
