Happy Pride Month Downtown Tacoma! Pride celebrations this year will be a mix of in-person and virtual events that are open to the public throughout the month. Over 100 local businesses are participating in Points of Pride which promotes different giveaways and food and drink specials in July, specifically to celebrate the LGBTQIA2S community.

The Rainbow Center started hosting Tacoma Pride events a little over 10 years ago and is a great resource that celebrates pride in Tacoma with events year-round. The Rainbow Center is hosting a virtual pride parade on July 10th and is expecting around 500 people to attend, which is a huge increase from the virtual pride event in 2020. The last in-person Tacoma Pride Festival in 2019 hosted around 15,000 to 20,000 people in Downtown to celebrate the community. Although Tacoma businesses and restaurants are moving away from the Covid-19 restrictions, this event will still be hosted virtually due to a lack of time for planning.

If you would like to celebrate in person, Alma Mater is hosting rooftop and patio events throughout the month of July. Events to look out for this week are the Tacoma Pride Pre-Funk It on July 7th and Glamazon Prime event on July 9th. There will also be a rooftop party with live music on July 10. Check out the Alma Mater website for more details on Pride events. The annual Tacoma Pride Block Party at the Mix is on July 10th starting at 12 p.m. throughout the night to celebrate. You can buy tickets through the Mix website.

These are just a few of the events happening in Tacoma so make sure to come downtown and celebrate the LGBTQIA2S community with us in Downtown Tacoma!
