Broadway Farmers Market – Seasonal Assistant

The Downtown Tacoma Partnership, in collaboration with the Tacoma Farmers Market, are looking for a part-time, seasonal assistant for the Broadway Farmers Market. This position is a hands-on, active, and engaging role that is crucial to ensure the success of the market.

A successful candidate is customer service-focused, has a passion for community & public events, is comfortable being in an outdoor environment and on your feet for a 10-hour period, and can lift 50 lbs. The Broadway Farmers Market takes place every Thursday from April – September. Candidates are expected to be present at every market date.

Job Functions

Market Day Operations:

• Set up and take down market equipment, street closure, and no parking signs

• Assist market manager at the Information Booth in conducting EBT transactions, credit/cash sales, and data collection

• Learns and understands various market currencies and rules to ensure a safe and compliant market

• Provides excellent customer service to market customers

• Address customer inquiries promptly and professionally

• Builds unique and supportive relationships with market vendors

• Mingles amongst the market to take quality pictures of all aspects of market, including conducting interviews with vendors and sponsors for our social media.

Required Experience and Skills

• Possess strong people skills, professionalism, and customer service

• Eagerness to work with people from diverse backgrounds

• Ability to lift 50lbs repeatedly and work outside on your feet in various weather for a 10-hour period

• Can work independently and within a team

• Reliable, punctual, and flexible

• Fluency in additional language(s) is a bonus

Compensation & Hours

This is a part-time, seasonal, non-exempt (hourly) position that runs from April through September and requires roughly 10-12 hours per week. The role offers $20/hr. Must be available to work Thursdays from 6am-4:30pm. (No Market April 24 or June 19)
