With Daylight Savings Time just over a month away and Punxsutawney Phil predicting an early spring, the cold, wet nights are numbered. If you haven’t hunkered down for the season yet, why start? Here are 6 ways to get out and enjoy Downtown Tacoma through dinner and a show this February.
Option 1: DINNER: Pacific Grill
SHOW: C.W. Stoneking
C.W. Stoneking is one of the shows we are most excited about this month in Downtown Tacoma. Stoneking is something of a throwback. He performs original compositions that echo the 1920’s and 1930’s blues, ragtime, calypso, jazz, and hillbilly music. What better place to embrace a bygone era than enjoying dinner beforehand at the classic Pacific Grill. For those 21 and over, we recommend sitting in the bar and enjoying all-day happy hour.

Option 2: DINNER: Steel Creek
SHOW: Blake Shelton
Steel Creek is hosting a pre-party and after-party for the Blake Shelton show at the Tacoma Dome. That is why we recommend getting dinner here before the show. Make sure to arrive early as seating is limited. Valentine’s Day, Blake Shelton and whiskey at Steel Creek? We are basically the Nashville of the North.

Option 3: DINNER: En Rama
SHOW: Dr. Dog
Dr. Dog has achieved remarkable success. They have multiple Top 50 Albums; television performances on Letterman, Fallon, Conan and more; critical acclaim everywhere from the New York Times to Rolling Stone. Speaking of critical acclaim, En Rama’s Chris Keil has been written up everywhere from the New York Times to Seattle Magazine. That’s why we recommend grabbing dinner at En Rama before checking out Dr. Dog at the Spanish Ballroom.

SHOW: Tacocat
Tacocat is a pop-punk quartet from Seattle whose musical styling is perfectly captured in the video above for their song Crimson Wave, a period positive beach anthem. We love their ability to address real-life with humor and sarcasm. Seeing as their show is on a Tuesday in Tacoma, it just makes sense to get Taco Tuesday at Red Star Taco before the show.

OPTION 5: DINNER: The Koi
SHOW: Clemm Rishad
Clemm Rishad is born and raised in Tacoma. His latest song 2020 vision has got us hyped right now. It feels something like an anthem for this new decade. While the above video isn’t for this song, it does show our city in a major way and makes us feel like treating ourselves. That is why we recommend you do just that and head to The Koi for dinner before the Clemm Rishad show.

OPTION 6: DINNER: The Old Hangout
SHOW: Donavon Frankenreiter
Our first introduction to Donavon Frankenreiter was around 2005 when he was making music with Jack Johnson. Frankenreiter has an ultra chill surfy sort of tune to him. It’s the kind of music you want to listen to while walking barefoot in a rainforest in Hawaii. Come to think of it, the food at the Old Hangout at McMenamins Elks Temple makes us want to do the same thing.
